Borderless Heat Hazards With Bordered Impacts

چکیده
Heatwaves are increasing in frequency, duration, and intensity due to climate change. They associated with high mortality rates cross-sectional impacts including a reduction crop yield power outages. Here we demonstrate that there large deficiencies reporting of heatwave international disasters databases, organization reports, bulletins. We characterize the distribution heat stress across world focusing on August Northern Hemisphere, when notably heatwaves have taken place (i.e., 2003, 2010, 2020) for last 20 years using ERA5-HEAT reanalysis Universal Thermal Comfort Index establish has grown larger extent, more so during heatwave. Comparison against emergency events database reports reveals underreporting heatwave-related impacts. This work suggests an internationally agreed protocol should be put impact by organizations national government, facilitating implementation preparedness measures, early warning systems.

Safeguarding against heat hazards.
Heat stress occurs when the body cannot release heat and cool itself. When the air temperature is as warm as or warmer than a person's skin, blood brought to the skin's surface cannot efficiently release heat. Working hard in high heat impedes the body's ability to cool itself because the muscles need extra blood, thus decreasing the amount of blood available to circulate to the skin and intern...
متن کاملBorderless science and borderless arts: past and present.
Today, a successful career in science makes one international or global. People move laboratories and change countries. Researchers collaborate and interact around the globe. The notion of the international nature of science was prominent in the recent BBC program “Desert Island Discs,” in which the guest was Sir Andre Geim, a physicist and the winner, with Konstantin Novoselov, of the 2010 Nob...
متن کاملInvolutively Bordered Words
In this paper we study a generalization of the classical notions of bordered and unbordered words, motivated by DNA computing. DNA strands can be viewed as finite strings over the alphabet {A, G, C, T}, and are used in DNA computing to encode information. Due to the fact that A is Watson-Crick complementary to T and G to C, DNA single strands that are Watson-Crick complementary can bind to each...
متن کاملFully bordered words
Any primitive binary word contains at least two unbordered conjugates. We characterize binary words that have exactly two unbordered conjugates and show that they can be expressed as a product of two palindromes. In this paper we relate two elementary properties of finite words: being a palin-drome and being unbordered. These two concepts are in a sense complementary. Unbordered words have maxi...
